Jiggle & Jam's NatureJam
The benefits for little ones of Music and Nature are plentiful and overlapping. Both Music and Nature encourage us to explore our senses, move our bodies, connect to our emotions, to each other and to the world around us.
The Pandemic has further highlighted the positive effects of spending more time outdoors and connecting with nature. The outdoors also provides a gentler, less overwhelming environment and has an important part to play in the so-called ‘Recovery Curriculum’.
Making music together outdoors also makes it much easier for us to adhere to Covid guidelines relating to both social distancing and group singing, and masks are not required. This creates a more free and relaxed environment for all!
We are lucky that our regular Motspur Park venue (the Scout Centre KT3 6LX) has a great outdoor space - a large field surrounded by mature trees that provide plenty of shade and shelter.
Our NatureJam sessions are divided into two age groups:
Warblers - babies until walking
Grasshoppers - toddlers up to 36 months
Each session lasts 40 mins. For current session times and availability, please view our
ALL sessions will take place OUTDOORS at our Covid-Secure venue in Motspur Park:
Scout Centre, Arthur Rd, Motspur Park, KT3 6LX in a large field behind the Centre.
While social distancing remaining in place, there is NO PARKING onsite, to allow for safely distanced arrival and exit.
However there is free on-street parking available on Arthur Rd and other nearby residential side roads including Tennyson Ave and Seaforth Ave.
The K5 bus stops on West Barnes Lane a few mins walk away. Motspur Park Station is also a few mins walk away.
Newly refurbished INDOOR TOILETS will be available at ALL outdoor sessions. These must be used one family group at a time. The toilet area will be cleaned before and after every session
Warblers (Babies) - move indoors to the Hall in wet weather
Grasshoppers (Toddlers) - remain outdoors unless there is torrential rain or high winds (in this event they will move online)
Sessions will embrace an 'outdoor learning' approach, incorporating the natural environment into our music making & exploration
Warblers (Babies) - socially distanced groundsheets & foam mats will be provided. Please bring your own picnic blanket to go on top
Grasshoppers (Toddlers) - all-weather jigsaw squares will be provided for each child and carer.
Participants will need to dress appropriately for the weather forecast in clothing and footwear that you are happy to get muddy.
You cannot make up sessions by attending a different day (if and when our timetable expands) due to Covid 'bubbles' and capped group size to ensure social distancing.
Instead there will be a bank of online sessions available as 'catch up' sessions.
If a session is cancelled, payment will either be rolled forward or refunded.
Clean instruments/props will be handed out as individual sets. There will be no sharing and props will be minimal. All equipment is cleaned between sessions.
Participants are responsible for adhering to the latest government guidelines surrounding social distancing, handwashing and self-isolating. IF YOU, YOUR CHILD OR ANYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD OR CHILDCARE BUBBLE HAS COVID-19 SYMPTOMS YOU MUST NOT ATTEND.
We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone displaying symptoms.
Track and Trace will also be in operation. By booking & attending, you are automatically giving your permission for your details to be shared for this purpose.
• There will be hand sanitiser available on arrival and exit to the field, as well as sinks, soap and water in the toilets
